ITEM 5388. FREEBLOWN BOWL, deep
aquamarine, pontil scar, 5"H x 13"D, outwardly folded
rim, a mint bowl exhibiting the expected usage wear. American,
probably blown at a New York State Glass House, C. 1840.
Almost assuredly a New York State product and quite likely blown
at Redford or Redwood, this soulful bottle glass bowl is a superior
expression of the glassblower's art. The bowl is well loved but
not damaged and as most pieces blown in Western New York State,
it was constructed using a heavy gather of coarse bottle glass.
Both functional and beautiful, this is a bowl any collector would
be proud to own!
