ITEM 5158. "WOOD'S / BLACK
INK / PORTLAND.", brilliant aquamarine, conical, tubular
pontil scar, 2 1/2" H, inwardly rolled mouth, sparkling
attic mint. American, probably blown at the Keene Marlboro Street
Glass Works, C. 1840, scarce.
It is this bottle's exceptionally brilliant glass, extremely
bold embossing and perfect "as blown" condition that
make it the finest possible example of a hard-to-find Portland,
Maine ink.
