RARE TWO-PIECE MOLD NEW ENGLAND UTILITY JAR - MINT

ITEM 5000. UTILITY JAR, (similar to McKearin's Plate 227 #8), olive green, two-piece mold cylinder, pontil scar, 4 3/8"H, sheared and fire polished mouth, mint. Blown at a New England Glass Works, 1830-1850, rare.

Although it pains me to do so, it is time for us to part with this nifty little jar. Arguably made in either Connecticut or New Hampshire, this is only the second or perhaps the third example of this jar we have encountered in our dozen years of collecting New England utilities. The bottle is "fresh" from our collection of utilities and were it not for a rash of recent purchases, it would still be sitting proudly on our shelf.
