ITEM 4806. "C. LEDIARD / NEW YORK", golden amber, hexagonal with ringed neck, smooth base, 11 3/16"H, applied sloping collar with ring, base edge bubble burst and some light scuffing. American, C. 1870, extremely rare.

Arguably the rarest of the variously embossed "Lediard" bottles, this unusually formed bitters/whiskey/cordial is to our knowledge one of 5-10 extant examples. Our first brush with this particular bottle came several years ago when we viewed a display from Dick Watson's Collection at the Wheaton Museum. I have since heard of other examples in collections but this is the first time I can recall seeing one for sale. Granted, the bottle does have a base edge bubble burst but as shown, it is HAMMERED with whittle and unique in its form.
