GOLDEN AMBER FREEBLOWN STORAGE JAR - EX. CORNING MUSEUM

ITEM 4734. FREEBLOWN STORAGE JAR, golden amber, globular body with constricted neck and everted/expanded mouth, tubular pontil scar, 5 3/8"H, a mint jar exhibiting the expected light usage wear. Probably blown at a New Jersey Glass Works, 1840-1860, deaccessioned by the Corning Museum of Glass.

This wild and wonderful American "jar bowl" exhibits particularly pleasing form and the type of honest wear that leaves no doubt as to its age.
