ITEM 4701. UTLITY OR MEDICINE BOTTLE, golden olive amber, rectangular with concave beveled edges, pontil scar, 7"H, crudely applied collared mouth, mint. Blown at a Stoddard, NH Glass Works, C.1850, rare.

Known colloquially as the "Stoddard Tombstone," this rare and oh-so impressive bottle is as fine an example as we have encountered. Of the two mouth finishes in which this bottle can be found, the single collar is widely recognized as the more attractive and the crude rendering of this particular collar will make a Stoddard Glass Collector's mouth water.
