ITEM 4608. FREEBLOWN PITCHER WITH HAND-TOOLED DECORATIVE SWAGS, clear flint glass, applied solid glass foot and ear-shaped handle, polished pontil scar, 9 ¼" H, hand-tooled mouth with exaggerated pour spout, a mint pitcher with some manufacturer's tooling marks on the body. American, probably blown at a Philadelphia Glass House, 1820-1840, rare.

This exceptional piece of Early American Glass was found in Virginia by an astute picker several years ago. Created by a glassblower with highly advanced skills and an eye for symmetry, the swagged design is perfectly balanced and matched beautifully by the unusually crimped handle finish. No, it is not colored, but this is truly a beautiful piece of early glass that screams of quality and refinement.
