ITEM 3882. CLOVERLEAF PICKLE JAR, golden amber with strong red highlights, generally square with lobed corners, smooth base, 8 1/4"H x 3"W, applied mouth, mint. Blown at a Stoddard Glass Works, Stoddard, NH, 1860-1873, scarce.

As with the three-piece mold utility jar that we are currently offering, this superb cloverleaf pickle is "fresh" to the market having until this past week been housed in an old time collection. As we are well aware, the "old-timers" had the pick of the litter and I this case the choice was an especially prudent one, as this beautiful jar is as fine an example as we have offered. Yes, the soupy olive green examples are nice but this beauty has plenty of RED and its crudely formed mouth puts it on par with the heavy, dense examples that are so widely praised by collectors of Stoddard Glass.
