ITEM 3872. BLOWN THREE MOLD HAT
WHIMSEY, (McK# GIII-4), clear, beaver-style top hat, pontil scar,
2 5/8"H, inwardly folded rim, mint. American, probably blown
at the Boston and Sandwich Glass Works, Sandwich, MA, 1820-1840.
This boldly embossed blown-three-mold hat is a particularly crisp,
well-proportioned example that was manipulated from a gather
first patterned in a castor bottle mold.
