ITEM 3857. PITKIN-TYPE INKWELL, deep
olive green, 36 ribs swirled to the right, pontil scar, 1 7/8"H
x 2 3/16"D, tooled mouth, mint. Blown at a New England Glass
Works, 1790-1820.
Although rather dark in color, this superb Pitkin-type ink is
as strongly impressed as any we have seen and it exhibits none
of the body wear and flaking that so typically plagues bottles
of this type.
