BURLINGTON, VT JOHNSON'S CALISAYA BITTERS - RARE COLOR

ITEM 2958. "JOHNSON'S / CALISAYA / BITTERS - BURLINGTON / VT", (Ring# J45), apricot amber with red highlights, square with indented panels, smooth base, 10 1/4"H x 2 3/4"W, applied sloping collar with ring, mint. American, 1870-1880, a rare color for this bottle.

This unusually colored bitters bottle is not a true "puce" but it is not the typical shade of amber either and it displays a distinct "red" cast in most any lighting situation. The bottle's color is akin to that of a C.A. Richards and with that in mind, it seems likely that it too (as with the Richards) is a product of the Lyndeboro Glass Works.

Price: $365 plus shipping and insurance
