ITEM 2928. MAGNUM-SIZED WHISKEY OR WINE
BOTTLE, brilliant golden amber, three-piece mold cylinder, iron
pontil scar, 10 3/4"H x 3 7/8"D, applied sloping collar,
a mint bottle with several pinhead-sized spots of lip edge roughness.
Probably blown at a Stoddard Glass Works, Stoddard, NH, 1830-1850.
We have bought and sold at least a dozen of these Stoddard-type
magnum bottles but NONE could hold a candle to this extra-crude
and beautifully colored example. The bottle is overflowing with
whittle marks and when displayed in natural light, the sunshine
plays beautifully with the wonderfully crude, heavily textured
glass. If you are going to own a Stoddard magnum, this is THE
ONE!!!
