ITEM 2915. "CONGRESS & EMPIRE
SPRING CO / E / SARATOGA, N. Y. - EMPIRE / WATER", (Tucker#
E-9:a, Type 2), clear, brilliant green, cylindrical, smooth base,
quart, applied sloping collar with ring, a mint bottle exhibiting
some neck crazing. Congressville Glass Works, Saratoga, NY, C.
1875.
Though it is a very common bottle, this beautiful Empire quart
is far from ordinary. Glass collectors have long understood that
each hand blown item is "unique" and with that in mind,
this wonderfully crude bottle escapes convention and stand alone
not simply as an "Empire quart" but rather as a "damn
good bottle."
