ITEM 2579. "BOLEN. WAACK & CO.
NEW YORK - MINERAL / SPRING / WATER", (not listed in Tucker),
grass green, cylindrical, smooth base, pint, applied sloping
collar with ring, a mint bottle retaining some content residue.
A partially open top-of-lip bubble is a non-distracting manufacturer's
flaw. American, 1870-1880, extremely rare.
To our knowledge, this is one of less than a handful of known
PINT-sized mineral waters with the Bolen Waack & Co. embossing
and it is quite possibly the only example blown in this bright
shade of grass green bottle glass. (The only other example that
we can find in our reference material was amber.) The bottle
is fresh from an estate in Randolph, Vermont and it has NEVER
been offered previously. As noted, there is a small, non-distracting
partially open bubble on the top of the lip but there is no other
damage, wear or staining. The embossing is exceptionally bold
and the glass is filled with a multitude of tiny bubbles that
add notably to the bottle's character. This a truly RARE bottle
that would make an important addition to any serious collection
of mineral waters!
