PONTILED WHALE OIL LAMP - PRESSED MULTI-TIERED PEDESTAL & LIGHT BULB FORMED FONT

ITEM 2435. WHALE OIL LAMP, colorless, square pressed base with multi-tiered pedestal, wide ringed knopf and free blown light bulb form font, pontil scar, 8 3/4"H x 3 ¼"W, tooled mouth, about mint (several flat base edge flakes and typical mold roughness). American, 1825-1840.

This fine, flint glass lamp rings like a bell when tapped and it is a beautifully constructed example of an Early New England Lighting Device.
