ITEM 2421. 16 SIDED STODDARD-TYPE UMBRELLA INK, olive green, pontil scar, 2 1/8"H x 2 3/16"D, sheared and tooled mouth, mint. Probably blown at a Stoddard Glass Works, Stoddard, NH, 1840-1860, a scarce ink in a rare color.

This superb 16-sided ink is not amber but rather a muddy shade of olive green in color. The piece is the larger of the two known sizes of 16-sided "Stoddard" inks and it is not only quite scarce, but very attractive as well.
