ITEM 2268. "C.A. RICHARDS / 99 WASHINGTON
ST / BOSTON.", golden olive amber, square, smooth base,
9 3/4"H x 2 7/8"W, applied sloping collar, about mint
(1/16" panel edge flake). Probably blown at a Stoddard Glass
Works, Stoddard, NH, 1860-1872.
This beautifully crude C. A. Richards case bottle is almost certainly
the product of a Stoddard Glass Works and as shown, the glass
is a rich golden olive amber in color with bubbles and swirl
lines throughout. The noted panel edge flake is an inconsequential
flaw that is noted for accuracy, as the piece remains a superior
example of Stoddard glass.
