ITEM 2267. PICKLE JAR, brilliant
aquamarine, cylindrical with lobed shoulders, iron pontil scar,
12 1/8"H x 4 3/8"D, outwardly rolled mouth, about mint
(inconsequential paper-thin 1/8" base flake). American,
C.1850, scarce form.
Overflowing with glass character and boasting brilliant glass,
this superb iron-pontiled jar is GUARANTEED to please. The piece
is fresh from an old-time Vermont collection and it is as fine
an example of this scarce jar that we have encountered. The glass
crudity and multi-faceted whittle marks are truly a joy to behold
and as shown, the bottle literally appears to "shimmer"
in the sunlight. This is a winner for sure!
