ITEM 2254. "DR RENZ'S / HERB BITTERS" WITH PARTIAL ORIGINAL LABEL, (Ring# R38), olive yellow with an amber tone, square, smooth base, 10 1/8"H x 2 7/8"W, applied double collar, shallow 3/16" inner mouth flake and label loss as shown. American, C.1875.

Though our pictures do not properly capture this bottle's beauty, this desirable San Francisco, California bitters is in fact a deep olive yellow in color with some amber highlights. (As with most bottles in this color range, the bottle appears to be primarily "olive" in subdued light and increasingly "yellow" when displayed with strong backlighting.) And, though there is some paper loss, the bottle retains a mostly readable and extremely rare original label. A small inner mouth flake is the bottle's only "apology" but this minor flaw does not notably detract from the bottle's appearance and in fact, it can only be seen when looking inside the mouth and NOT upon display.
