ITEM 2173. PANELED SODA WITH DEBOSSED
"W", bright green with yellow tone, octagonal, early
smooth base, 7 3/8"H x 2 3/4"D, applied blob-style
collar, about mint (a few light clouds of interior haze and some
minor exterior wear). American, 1865-1875, very scarce.
This brightly colored paneled soda water bottle features a debossed
"W" upon the shoulder and though the piece is not pontiled,
it is certainly of the era, dating to the 1860s. The bottle is
"fresh" from an old time collection and it has never
been cleaned or in any way altered - as noted, some minor wear
is apparent upon close inspection but the bottle is otherwise
perfect and it is obviously a "house" or "attic"
find and NOT a dug bottle. We have included an image of the base
in an attempt to capture just how "out of round" the
bottle is formed, as the piece measures 2 ¾" in one
axis and 2 ½" in the other.
