ITEM 1741. MONUMENT COLOGNE BOTTLE, clambroth,
figural monument, smooth base, 6 ½"H x 1 7/16"W,
hand tooled single ring collar, mint with a shallow, pinhead-sized
open bubble on the lip edge. American, 1860-1880, scarce mold
& color.
Unusual in both form and color, this intriguing cologne bottle
is most likely the product of a New England Glass Factory, dating
to the second half of the Nineteenth century. As shown, the translucent
glass exhibits both bluish and fiery opalescent tones - the visual
effect of the glass is most apparent when displayed in a sunny
window but the piece is quite obviously "different"
in any lighting situation. THIS IS A GREAT PIECE OF EARLY GLASS!!!!
