WHITTLED BRIGHT YELLOW OLIVE PITTSBURGH DOUBLE EAGLE

ITEM 10794. EAGLE / "PITTSBURGH / PA" - EAGLE, GII-105, bright olive yellow, smooth base, pint, applied mouth with ring, mint. Blown at a Pittsburgh District Glass House, C. 1865.

Pittsburgh double eagles blown in this general shade of color are invariably dense, lifeless and muddy and thus it was a pleasant surprise to find this highly transparent example with top to bottom clarity, a brilliant surface and good glass whittle.
