ITEM 10260. "LIBERTY"
/ EAGLE - "WILLINGTON / GLASS, CO / WEST, WILLINGTON / CONN"
HISTORICAL FLASKS, (McK# GII-62), bright blue green, smooth base,
pint, applied sloping collar, about mint (small manufacturing
flaw in applied mouth). Blown at the Willington Glass Works,
West Willington, CT, 1860-1873, scarce color. Ex. Charles B.
Garder and Gail Ross Collections.
Noted collector Gail Ross purchased
this stunning flask at the landmark 1975 Gardner Sale and it
became a treasured piece in his collection of Eagle flasks. The
color of this beauty is somewhat different than other "blue
green" examples and as show, the flask is plastered with
whittle. The mold impression is exceptional and the there is
a near complete absence of wear at the high points.
