ITEM 10207. "LAFAYETTE" / BUST OF LAFAYETTE / "COVENTRY / CT" - LIBERTY CAP / "S & S," (McK# GI-86), bright golden amber, pontil scar, half-pint, sheared and fire polished mouth, about mint (minor wear at the high points and a shallow 3/16" open surface bubble). Blown at the Coventry Glass Works, Coventry, CT, C. 1824.

This handsome flask was blown to commemorate Lafayette's last visit to the United States and it is one of many objects created specifically to honor the man whose popularity at the time was second only to George Washington. We've been fortunate to buy and sell quite a number of these popular flasks over the years and there is no dount in miy mind that this has the very best mold detailing of any we have encountered. The noted condition "issues" are mentioned solely fo accuracy, as this is a flask that would stand tall and proud in even the most advanced collection.
